In my travels to visit friends across the country my second stop of the summer was to visit my best guy friend Steven in Beloit, Kansas. Growing up I had heard many people refer to Fayetteville as a small town, but Beloit is a true small town! Complete with farm lands, a sweet community, a deep history, and 2 stoplights. Though I was only in Beloit for a few days, I was able to bike the 4 square miles of town, visit the art park sponsored by a local Beloit citizen, visit the movie cinema complete with two theaters, enjoy some good o'le home cooked food, and fly a plane! One of my favorite parts of Beloit was visiting the Catholic church. As some of you know I am a cradle Catholic and love going to mass! Unfortunately I was so taken back by the beauty of this church, I completely forgot to take a picture, sorry y'all! St. John the Baptist Catholic Church is not only gorgeous, when it was completed in 1904 it was the largest church west of the Mississippi River! While listening to the priest talk about youth programs in the announcements I started to think about the amazing priests I have been blessed with in my life. They've taught me that priests can not only be someone to look up to but also someone who can be there for you in so many parts of your life! No matter what questions you have, what trials and tribulations you are going through in life, what relationship troubles you have, your priest will be there for you. You can trust them to give you not only amazing advice but advice that will bring you closer to Christ and strengthen your faith. I understand if this may seem too good to be true because I went many years of my life scared to speak to priests. I had actually convinced myself that I would be judged for sinning and not being holy. What I've learned in the past few years though is that your priest just wants to help you. He wants to help you discover your faith and keep Christ in you life! Priests are there for you at any age, any time, for all people! I can personally say that my priests have helped me through some of the hardest times in my life, and for them and for my Catholic faith I am forever grateful! And because I love excitement, my other favorite part was flying a plane! I have always wanted to fly a plane but never in my wildest dreams thought I would actually be able to. While in Kansas I was able to join my friend Steven in the air and fly for a little while! Now I know not every small town is the same, but my small town experience was amazing and I hope you all will have an opportunity to visit a small town of your own!
